Autumnal Astronomy
Sat, Oct 06, 2018 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: Long Pasture Audubon Sanctuary, Barnstable MA
Cost: Member child $8 adult $10 and Non member child $10 adult $12
Audience: All (suitable for children 12 - 18 years)
With its cool, long nights and the Milky Way arching overhead, Autumn is an ideal time to become acquainted with the wonders of the heavens. Weather permitting, we'll observe ghostly nebulas, glittering planets, and the Andromeda Galaxy. Regardless of weather, we'll learn to read star charts and get a handle on what makes for a good, affordable telescope. Dress warmly, in layers, and bring binoculars and a folding chair if you own them.
NOTE: This program takes place rain or shine; there will be plenty to do and learn even if inclement weather keeps us indoors.
Instructor: Joshua Roth. A native of Los Angeles, CA, Joshua Roth is a former Sky & Telescope editor and science teacher now working at Cengage, a digital learning company.
