Hyannis MA, September 24, 2018: Cape Cod Beer is bringing the inaugural Shuck! A Day of Oysters & Beer<https://capecodbeer.com/event/shuck/> to the mid-Cape. This day-long event celebrates all things oysters and will be held at Cape Cod Beer's brewery in Hyannis. With the help of the Greater Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce<https://www.hyannis.com/> and the Barnstable Clean Water Coalition<https://bcleanwater.org/> this celebration of the region's bi-valves will be held on Saturday, October 20th from 1pm to 5pm. Big Rock Oyster<http://www.bigrockoyster.com/> & Cape Cod Oyster<http://www.capeoysters.com/> are operating raw bars featuring  oysters from towns all over Cape Cod. The Barnstable Association for Recreational Shellfishing<http://shellfishing.org/> will be selling clam chowder and The Pineapple Caper<https://www.pineapplecaper.com/food-truck/> food truck will sell non-seafood food offering. The popular local band 57 Heavy<http://www.57heavy.com/> headlines the music for the day. Cape Cod Beer's Shucker's Reward Oyster Stout<https://capecodbeer.com/shuckersreward/> - based on an Irish extra stout and made with oysters from across Cape Cod  - will also be available at the event. The autumn event is meant to highlight the wide variety of oysters that Cape Cod offers as well as their economic and ecological impact on the region.

Cape Cod Beer is excited to introduce Shuck! to the mid-Cape area.
"Most of us think of oysters as these delicacies that appear like magic on every menu. But they're so much more than that. It's an industry that supports hundreds of people. These shellfish are also being used as a natural way to filter the waters of Cape Cod. Cape Cod oysters are important to the wellbeing of Cape Cod in ways that most of us don't even know. We wanted to give people a chance to drink local beer, eat delicious, fresh, local oysters, learn more about the amazing Cape Cod oyster and have fun doing it!"

Cape Cod Community Media Center<http://capemedia.org/> & Barnstable Channel 18<http://www.town.barnstable.ma.us/Channel18/default.asp> are assisting in the creation of a series of documentary shorts, "Movers & Shuckers<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxtFkaFtZQ0>," that include interviews with local shellfishers, the Commerical Fisherman's Alliance and the ARC oyster hatchery. Event goers will be able to browse educational exhibits by the Barnstable Clean Water Coalition. While Cape Cod Beer has on-site parking, carpooling is encouraged to help reduce congestion. Shuck!
