FREE 2018 Winter Education and Film Series

Please join Senior Corps RSVP of Cape Cod & the Islands during these environmental education events open to the public.  Films will be held at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, and presentations will be held at various locations.  Please see event descriptions for more details regarding dates, times and topics. Shellfish Aquaculture Practices and Their Growing Importance on Cape Cod presented by Joshua Reitsma, Marine Program Specialist of Barnstable County Cooperative Extension and Woods Hole Sea Grant

Description: Shellfish aquaculture has grown dramatically in recent years and has economic and potentially ecological importance to Cape Cod. Regional growing practices are important to commercial shellfish farms and municipal efforts to restore or enhance natural populations of shellfish. Efforts to propagate shellfish also provide increased volunteer opportunities.

Chasing Coral

Inspired by "Chasing Ice," Jeff Orlowski captures stunning evidence of massive coral bleaching across the world.  As coral reefs disappear a team of divers, photographers and scientists reveal why this is happening and what we can do to make it stop.

Wednesday, March 14 from 2 - 4 PM
John Coykendall, a renowned heirloom seed saver, labors to preserve and learn about growing techniques, recipes and folktales of a Louisiana farming community.  By preserving seeds, he is able to pass on a legacy that our ancestors passed on to us.
