Coonamessett Farm Foundation, Inc. (CFF) is a small non-profit organization
located in East Falmouth, MA that conducts and supports scientific research
and educational activities that promote sustainable fisheries operations,
local small-scale agriculture and aquaculture, and renewable energy
sources. CFF is seeking a motivated, experienced technician with fisheries
and observer experience. The technician will work closely with fellow CFF
employees and captains of fishing vessels to participate in offshore
research trips for a variety of ongoing projects. The selected candidate
will possess at-sea experience, be willing to maintain seagoing equipment,
and help create innovative camera and technologies and support fisheries
research surveys on a variety of projects. Additionally, they must be able
to work well in a professional, team-oriented environment.
*Specific Responsibilities*
· Participate in research cruises for various CFF projects (it is
anticipated the successful candidate will be at sea for at least 50-60
days/year)
· Interact with collaborators to maintain and build equipment,
including scallop dredges
· Maintain seagoing equipment as needed
· Work with research biologists to create and improve custom,
innovative survey tools and gear designs
· Assist the Research Coordinator with inventory tracking
*Qualifications*
· MS in a science or fisheries discipline (BS with significant gear
and/or engineering experience may be substituted for higher degree)
· Multiple years of relevant at-sea experience (observer experience
preferred)
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs, bend, stretch, and stand for
extended periods of time
· Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
