An Evening with our Emergency Planners

The Six Ponds Improvement Association and Wildlands Trust are pleased to co-host An Evening with Our Emergency Planners. James Mannion, Regional Manager for Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), Henry Lipe, Emergency Preparedness Director for the Town of Plymouth, and John Viveiros, MEMA Lead Nuclear Planner for Pilgrim, have offered to speak with us about the plans in place should there be a radiological emergency that requires evacuation. We owe it to ourselves to have clear understanding of what to do in such an emergency.

Following a brief presentation, our speakers will answer questions. The value of this program will depend partly on the questions you come prepared to ask. Please give some thought to your situation, the nature and location of your household and the challenges you might encounter. (Are you on a main road or deep in the woods? Would you know what to do, where to go, how to get there? Do you have nearby neighbors you could count on if you needed help? What would this mean in the dead of winter, at midnight? What would it mean on a Friday afternoon in late August at rush hour?)
