THORNTON BURGESS NATURE CLUB MEETS MONTHLY

A new in-depth adult natural history course is being offered by the Thornton
W. Burgess Society with the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. On the
first Saturday of each month from May 5 through December 1, explore a
seasonal natural history topic with a local naturalist/citizen scientist.
Study broad perspectives of unique Cape Cod, the individual details of
specific species, adaptation, climate change and the impact of the legacy of
Thornton Burgess. Bring your curiosity to explore and discover the nature
around you. Bring water, snack, binoculars, hand lens, etc. The first
meeting is on May 5. From 9am to noon explore the Salt Marsh surrounding
Scorton Creek in East Sandwich with Naturalist Nancy Wigley. Footwear that
can get wet is encouraged. Following months include the Wildflower Garden
at Green Briar on June 2; Butterflies at the Butterfly House and Pollinator
Path at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster on July 7; Beach
Walk exploring the tide pools at Town Neck Beach on August 4; Birding at
the East Sandwich Game Farm on September 8; Wild Food focusing on foraging
basics on October 6; Insects in Winter on November 3; Migrant Winter Birds
on December 1. These programs are open to adults and teens ages 16 and up.
Register for the entire series at $199 or separately for each month at $30.
