HAND CARVED WHALES ON EXHIBIT AT GREEN BRIAR NATURE CENTER

"Whales-Giants of the Ocean" is the title of an impressive display of hand
carved whales by Marstons Mills artist David C. Cooperrider currently on
exhibit at the Green Briar Nature Center, 6 Discovery Hill Road, East
Sandwich.  The exhibit includes 21 wood carvings, both small and large
pieces, of sperm whale, humpback whale, right whale, and blue whale, plus a
6 foot long sperm whale coffee table.  All are available for purchase.  A
Meet the Artist Reception is planned on Saturday, April 22 from 1:00pm to
3:00pm.  The exhibit runs through May 28th and may be viewed Tuesday through

AMERICAN FOLK ART LECTURE SERIES AT GREEN BRIAR

 

 An Introduction to American Folk Art with Art Historian Elizabeth Friend
begins on Tuesday, April 4 and meets each week through May 9 from 10:00am to
11:30am at the Green Briar Nature Center in East Sandwich.  This series of
lectures cover the important art historical period in America commonly
called Folk Art.  Each lecture will highlight significant areas within this
large genre and will be profusely illustrated with color slides and examples
from the presenter's collection.  There will be time for a question and
answer period.  Fee is $35 for the entire series for members of the Thornton
W. Burgess Society, $45 for non-members.  Fee per individual lecture is $7
members, $9 non-members.   Advance registration is required by calling
