FULL MOON WALK

Join a Thornton W. Burgess Society naturalist on Sunday, July 9 from 8:00pm
to 9:30pm for a nighttime hike by the light of the "Buck Moon" along the
trails of the Briar Patch at the Green Briar Nature Center in East Sandwich.
Search for sights and sounds of creatures of the dusk and dark.  Walk is
suitable for adults and families with children ages 4 and up.  The fee for
Society members is $5 adult, $3 child (family maximum $16); non-members $6
adult, $4 child (family maximum $20).   Advance registration is required by
calling 508-888-6870. 

 

FAMILY BIRDING AT THE EAST SANDWICH GAME FARM

The Thornton W. Burgess Society is offering a family birding morning with
Cape Cod Birder John Hanlon, seeking birds of the marsh and meadow at the
East Sandwich Game Farm property on Saturday, July 15.   Participants are to
meet at 8:00am at the Game Farm for the gentle 2 hour walk.  Learn some
skills for bird identification by sight and sound.  Bring binoculars if you
have them.  Adults and families with children ages 6 and up are welcome.
The fee for Society members is $8 adult, $4 child (family maximum $25);
non-members $10 adult, $6 child (family maximum $32).  Advance registration
is required by calling 508-888-6870.  A second birding session is scheduled
on Saturday, August 19.

 

 NATURE JOURNALING FOR FAMILIES

Families with children ages 7 and up are invited to join artist, writer and
nature journalist Mary Richmond for a fun late afternoon class creating a
nature journal at the Green Briar Nature Center in East Sandwich.   This
outdoor activity will be a walk and draw type of class.  A small sketchbook,
pencil and colored pencils are recommended.  Register for any of the
following  one day classes: Saturdays,   July 15, August 12 and September 16
from 3:30pm-5:00pm.  Fees per class are $25 for one adult, one child; $30
for one adult, two children; $35 for a family of four.  Register for each
date separately by calling 508-888-6870.
