July 19 "Energy & Climate Activist Training in the Age of Trump"
In the age of President Trump, efforts to address climate change at the
state, regional, and local levels are more important than ever.
Massachusetts and Cape Cod must continue to be clean energy leaders. To meet
this need, the Massachusetts Sierra Club Cape Cod & Islands (CCI) Group is
hosting an activist training for citizens and voters on July 19th from 630 -
8 pm at the Brewster Ladies Library (1822 Main St/6A). The training is
cosponsored by 350 Cape Cod.
Presentations by Emily Norton, Massachusetts Sierra Chapter Director, and
Chris Powicki, a member of CCI Group's Executive Committee, will bring
attendees up to speed on key state-level clean energy bills under
consideration on Beacon Hill, as well as on regional and local issues. They
also will give attendees the tools and action steps needed to effectively
advocate to elected state representatives and to push for change at the
regional and local levels. The agenda is presented below:
Welcome & Lay of the Land
MA Clean Energy 101
Cape Clean Energy 101
Demystifying Elected Officials
Action Steps at State, Cape & Town Levels
At the state level, legislative priorities include stopping the pipeline tax
