*PEANUT BUTTER CLUB AT WOODS HOLE OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTION:*Presents
award winning author Terri Arthur who will present a pictorial
presentation on her popular award-winning historical novel “Fatal
Decision: Edith Cavell WWI Nurse,”**on Friday, December 15, at noon, in
Redfield Auditorium, 45 Water St., Woods Hole. Based on fact, Arthur’s
richly written historical novel tells the powerfully moving story of the
legendary Edith Cavell, a British nurse who started the first nurses’
training school in Belgium. When World War I broke out and the German
army occupied Belgium, Edith’s world disintegrated. Using her nursing as
a cover, she became a key link in the dangerous and clandestine world of
the Belgian underground rescuing wounded Allied soldiers. For nine
months she was relentlessly pursued by the ruthless German army. She
changed the history of America and Europe with her role in this war.
This is a piece of history that hasn’t been told – until now. It is an
inspiring story about a woman you never knew, but will never forget.
Books will be available for purchase after the talk. Sponsored by the
Information Office. Coffee, tea, and cookies served. Donations accepted.
