14th ANNUAL BIRD CARVERS SHOW AND SALE IN SANDWICH

The 14th Annual Bird Carvers Show & Sale takes place in Sandwich on Saturday
and Sunday, September 9 and 10 from 10am to 4pm at the Green Briar Nature
Center. New England's most prestigious carvers of birds and animals plus
wildlife painters display and sell their wares. Some give carving
demonstrations at their tables. Visitors will enjoy watching Wood Carver
Doug Amidon of Hillport Gallery in Sandwich working outside creating a
large carving of the Burgess storybook character "Grandfather Frog," which
will be donated to the nature center upon completion.

On Sunday at 1:00pm, Carver Laurie Truehart presents a "Seminar on Owls,"
offering a better understanding of the intricacies and anatomy of these
beautiful silent hunters. Through visual displays and resin casts, learn
all about these intriguing birds of prey. Mrs. Truehart of Royalston, MA,
has been professionally carving for more than 16 years. She has won awards
at both the Canadian Nationals and the Ward World Championship Wildlife
Carving Competitions. She has also written several articles for Wildfowl
Carving Magazine.

The show admission of $3 for members of the Thornton W. Burgess Society, $5
for non-members, benefits the environmental education programs of the
Burgess Society and its Green Briar Nature Center. Green Briar is located
at 6 Discovery Hill Road, just off Route 6A in East Sandwich. For further
