Phytoremediation- Pollution Purging Plants!
with Kate Kennen, RLA, Offshoots, Inc.

Environmental pollutants are encountered in the water, soil and air of our Cape Cod landscapes.  This workshop will provide an overview of the use of plants to take up pollutants with a focus on nitrogen and phosphorus removal in stormwater.

What can plants really accomplish? This session will provide the tools to create 'phyto' landscapes that enhance environmental conditions.

Our speaker, landscape architect Kate Kennen, co-authored PHYTO: Principles for Site Remediation and Landscape Design. Kate teaches pollution removal strategies with plants at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design in the Landscape Architecture Department and is the founder and president of Offshoots, Inc.<http://offshootsinc.com/>, a Boston landscape architecture practice focused on productive planting techniques and phytotechnology consulting.
