Cape Cod Strong: Meeting the Challenges of Coastal Storms
Waquoit Bay Reserve Visitor Center
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5
7:00PM - 9:00PM
What can past hurricanes and nor'easters tell us about our current and future risks? The history of past storms in southeast New England gives us insight into what the future may hold with the backdrop of sea level rise. Hear about forecast capabilities and limitations as well as where to find information when a storm threatens.
Learn about measures that can protect you, your family, your pets, and your home.
In addition to a look back to Hurricane Bob and "The Perfect Storm" which hit our area 25 years ago, National Weather Service's, Meteorologist -in-Charge of the Southern New England National Weather Service Forecast Office will provide his latest updates on how his office is tracking Hurricane Mathew. We've also added Kathy Catanache from DART (Disaster Animal Response Team), who will share information on how to be sure your pet is safe during emergencies and how to volunteer for DART.
Featured Speakers: Bob Thompson, Meteorologist-in-Charge, Southern New England National Weather Service Forecast Office
and Dan Dinardo, Falmouth Community Emergency Response Team
