Join us this spring at Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary for the following birding programs:
Flight of the Woodcock
The dazzling, aerial displays of courting male woodcocks are not to be missed. Join Christine Bates for an indoor presentation and then head out to witness woodcocks in action.
Thursdays, April 7 and 14, 6:30-8:30 PM

Bird Banding Demonstration at Wellfleet Bay
Wellfleet Bay has established a banding project to study the migration of songbirds. Join banding staff for this special opportunity to see birds up-close and in-the-hand while learning about banding methods and the information gathered from these research projects.
Saturdays, April 23, 30 and May 21, 28; 8-9 AM
Thursday, May 12, 8-9 AM

Hawks in Flight
Since 1998 Wellfleet Bay has been studying the spring migration of hawks over the Outer Cape. Join Melissa Lowe for a presentation on how to identify these charismatic birds of prey as they fly by, then head to Pilgrim Heights in Truro to see them in person.
Saturday, April 23, 8:30-11:30 AM

Birding by Ear
Birds are nature's musicians. This program will teach the nature lover to appreciate the music of the great outdoors. Science Coordinator Mark Faherty will instruct you on how to listen to birds: how to categorize different sounds, describe calls and songs, and identify locally common bird sounds.
Thursday, April 28, 9-11 AM
