The Town of Falmouth is currently accepting applications for the following SEASONAL POSITIONS:

 

WEST FALMOUTH SHELLFISH SKILLED LABORER

Propagation of shellfish through the medium of up-wellers and grow out gear; performs construction, mobilization, maintenance, and demobilization of equipment to be used in propagation projects; supervises and organizes shellfish propagation volunteers; monitors weather patterns and storm events for purpose of movement and protection of shellfish and gear; makes comprehensive written recommendations for relay, overwintering and growing optimization; maintains weekly activity logs and all other related duties as assigned. Previous skilled laborer experience, 2 years experience in shellfish propagation, aquaculture, marine husbandry; working knowledge of fisheries propagation and fisheries resources; ability to lift 60 lbs frequently. Valid MA Class D drivers license. This position requires a high level of independent initiative and judgement. Must provide own truck or SUV capable of towing. Position begins in mid-April and ends in mid- November. Work hours vary; some weekend and holiday work required. The pay rate for this position is $20.00/hour. Position open until filled with preliminary review of applications to take place on 03/28/16.

  

LITTLE POND OYSTER LABORER

Propagation of shellfish through the medium of up-wellers and grow out gear; performs construction, mobilization, maintenance, and demobilization of equipment to be used in the Little Pond propagation project; performs propagation project monitoring and surveys; broadcast animals into wild fisheries after appropriate growth; growth and survival monitoring; collects animals for histology testing; management and organization of growing gear and storage; bi-weekly data collection and report writing. One year experience in shellfish propagation, aquaculture, marine aquatic husbandry; Valid MA Class D Drivers license; must have own transportation to and from work sites.  Position begins in mid-April and is for 16 weeks. Work hours vary; some weekend and holiday work required. The pay rate for this position is $16.00/hour. Position open until filled with preliminary review of applications to take place on 03/28/16.
