It's worth a special trip to Plymouth to see nesting Piping Plovers (and Least Terns) on the prettiest beach in southeastern Mass - Long Beach. It's quite a spectacle of nature to see and hear many of these threatened birds. We may also see Bank Swallows, Black Skimmers, Horned Larks, Osprey, Willets, Black-bellied Plovers, Common Terns, and four species of gulls.
On these upcoming trips, we'll spend time talking about the conservation practices that are helping these birds and watch behaviors - such as territorial disputes, incubation, chick-rearing - that most people never get to see.
Click on the date of interest for more information, to register and to pay the trip fee. Space is limited.
