* Meet Your Local Farmer  *

Join the Westport Land Conservation Trust for its third annual Meet Your
Local Farmers event, co-sponsored by the Westport Grange and the Westport
Agricultural Commission. Come meet farmers and learn of their plans for the
upcoming season. Products will be sold, if available. This event is free
and open to the public.
*When*: Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 1:00 to 3:00 pm
*Where*: Westport Grange, 931 Main Road, Westport, MA 02790

Immediately following this year's Meet Your Local Farmers event, the
Westport Land Conservation Trust will host an open forum regarding new
management plans for two of their Destination Properties:

*"As part of our organizational mission to protect agricultural land and
encourage its continued use, WLCT announced in September, through the
Westport Agricultural Commission, that we were exploring the idea of
expanding the amount of WLCT-owned agricultural land that we lease to
farmers. *

*We want to provide members of the community the opportunity to ask
questions before we finalize this plan.  As a result, WLCT staff and two
prospective farmers will be holding a forum regarding two possible
agricultural leases--one at our Headwaters Conservation Area, and the
second at our Herb Hadfield Conservation Area."*

assisted landowners in protecting more than 4,000 acres in Westport,
Massachusetts. WLCT is a private non-governmental organization dedicated to
local land conservation on behalf of the Westport community. The

and assists farm owners in preserving farmland with agricultural
