Registration is Open for Three Bays Preservation’s

6th Annual ‘Paddle for the Bays’

Scheduled for September 17 at Ropes Beach in Cotuit

(Osterville, Mass.) – Three Bays Preservation Inc. has opened registration for its highlight event of the summer—the 6th Annual ‘Paddle for the Bays’ open to stand up paddlers as well as kayakers, scheduled for September 17th at 9:30 a.m. at Ropes Beach, located at 85 Old Shore Road in Cotuit. On-site registration is available race day beginning at 7 a.m.

Participants in the largest stand up paddleboard and kayak race event on Cape Cod will have their skills, speed and endurance tested on courses of varying difficulty on some of the most beautiful water passages in New England. New to the 2016 race is a relay team event for four people per team, who will use the same kayak or stand up paddleboard. Each racer will kayak or paddle for a half mile for a team total of two miles.

Three Bays organizes this popular race to continue the community’s awareness of our watershed. All monies raised support conservation and water quality science and education programs to protect and conserve North, West and Cotuit Bays and smaller estuaries.

Registration Details

There are two ways to register: you can pre-register online at www.3bays.org where the first 100 people will receive a free long-sleeved T-shirt. In honor of the 20th anniversary of Three Bays Preservation Inc., pre-registrants pay a flat fee of $95, and youths will be charged $45. You can also register in-person the day of the race, on September 17th, beginning at 7 a.m., for $110. for adults, and $55. for youth.

We also offer an option to simply enter the race or partner with us and fundraise for the Bays and our long-standing clean water research programs. When you register as a fundraiser, you’ll receive a fundraising page online that you can customize. If you raise enough money to match or exceed your registration of $95, your registration fee will be waived. And if you don’t reach your fundraising goal, you’ll only be charged the difference. Another option is not to fundraise, but just pay to register and enjoy the day. Prizes for the top three fundraisers and cash prizes for some of the racers will be available this year.

Remember that pre-registering gets you a ticket to the official race dinner the night before on Friday, September 16th that includes entertainment and cool door prizes. Additional guest tickets are available for $25 for adults, and $15 for anyone under 12 years old. The official Race Dinner will be held at Veteran’s Hall, 753 Main Street in Osterville. Burrito Bistro is providing the food, and beverages are courtesy of Naukabout Beer, just a few of our official race sponsors. A silent auction with items created by local artisans is also available for the Friday night event.
