The 20th Annual Cape Cod Maritime Symposium

BREWSTER, MA.­ The Cape Cod Museum of Natural 
History in Brewster and Sturgis Library in 
Barnstable Village are proud to co-host the 20th 
Annual Cape Cod Maritime History Symposium on 
Saturday, May 21, 2016  from 9:00am – 3:00 PM.

The event is part of Cape Maritime Days sponsored 
by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. Below is a 
schedule of events, topics and guest speakers. 
Please join us for a very interesting day!

Schedule:

9:00 am – Registration; coffee, tea & refreshments

9:45am - Introductions by Symposium founder 
Theresa Barbo and Sturgis Library Director
  Lucy Loomis.

10:00 am – The Saltwater Frontier: Indians and 
the Contest for the American Coast
by Andrew Lipman, Assistant Professor of History, 
Barnard College, Columbia University

11:00 am – Stephano, friend of the Wampanoag: The 
True Story of Shakespeare’s Shipwreck by Andrew 
Giles Buckley of Hit and Run History

12:00 pm – Luncheon and explore Museum exhibits, gardens & trails

1:00 pm – The Artistry of Ship’s Figureheads by Ryan Cooper

2:00 pm – Henry Beston’s Cape Cod: How ‘The 
Outermost House’ Inspired a National Seashore by 
Don Wilding, Executive Director of the Henry Beston Society

Admission is $45: includes morning refreshments, 
4 lectures, lunch and Museum Admission.
