Field Biologist / Educator - Spadefoot Toad Conservation Project - Part Time Location: Barnstable, MA
We are seeking an individual with field biology experience, informal environmental education experience and a commitment to wetland conservation biology to carry out the seasonal responsibilities of the Spadefoot Toad Conservation and Wetland Restoration Project. Under the direction of the Sanctuary Director, this position will carry out field research, spadefoot toad headstarting operations, ongoing wetland monitoring, data collection, entry and basic analysis, and classroom and field based school programming for grades 2-12. Some program coordination including collaborating with teachers, managing headstarting operations for partners, purchasing supplies, and basic budget management required. This is a part time hourly position running from February - September annually with hours ranging between 15 and 30 hours per week.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, biological, earth science, environmental studies, or equivalent, and experience conducting educational programs in the field or classroom;. Successful candidates will have field biology experience and enjoy working in the field, knowledge of basic principles of Cape Cod ecology and natural history, and a background in or ability to learn wetland flora and fauna identification. The desire to teach in the classroom, as well as in the field and experience conducting educational programming for k-8 grade levels. Requires valid driver's license, daily use of vehicle, Candidates will need to pass a background records check (CORI, SORI and driver's)
Benefits: Rate of Pay: $12-$14/hour based on experience and qualifications.
Additional Comments
Weekend hours are sometimes required.
