populations of humpback whales on the Endangered Species List; that the sanctuary
has chosen its Volunteer of the Year; that a new dive mooring has been installed

The 44th Sanctuary Advisory Council meeting will be held on May 20, from 9:30 A.M.

Stellwagen Sanctuary Seeks
Advisory Council Applicants
The sanctuary is seeking applicants for seven primary seats and six alternate seats
on the advisory council. The council ensure public participation in sanctuary management
and provides advice to the sanctuary superintendent.
Applicants can apply for one of the following seats:
At-Large (primary)
Business/Industry (primary)
Diving (primary and alternate)
Education (two primary seats)
Fixed Gear Commercial Fishing (primary and alternate)
Mobile Gear Commercial Fishing (alternate)
Recreational Fishing (alternate)
Research (two alternate seats)
Whale Watch (primary)
Applications are due by June 30. For further information or an application package,

Get Into Your Sanctuary
Along with the other sanctuaries across the nation, Stellwagen Bank will be celebrating
"Get into Your Sanctuary" days on the weekend of June 27-28. The campaign, which
involves raising awareness about sustainable tourism and recreation opportunities
in the sanctuaries, also encourages participants to share their experiences through
social media.
