Dorothy Rowe Boyle Internship Fund

Dorothy Rowe Boyle 58, of Concord and East Orleans passed away on May 27, 2014. 
Dorothy, known to close friends as Dottie, was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School
(MD) and the University of Maryland, College Park where she earned a Bachelor of
 Science degree in Management.

Dorothy found great joy in raising her three boys, dedicating most of her time to
providing guidance and support. In addition, Dorothy had a long and gratifying career
as a program coordinator in various departments at Harvard Medical School including
the Department of Anatomy and the Division on Aging. Later she worked at Harvard
 University Health Services, and most recently in the Child and Adolescent Fellowship
Training Program at Cambridge Health Alliance.

Dorothy had a mind that was inquisitive and always questioning. She loved to learn,
she loved to know. She adored being outside and all things related to nature. She
drew tremendous joy and pleasure from her gardens of beautiful plants and vegetables
which she tended to as lovingly as she did to her family. Active in many outdoor
 activities, Dorothy enjoyed walking, running and biking through the conservation
areas of Orleans.

At the time of her passing the family decided that in lieu of flowers, Memorial 
donations should be made to the Orleans Conservation Trust (OCT).  Over the six 
months OCT received 65 generous gifts in Memory of Dorothy. During that same time
period her husband, Kevin Boyle, expressed interest in seeing those funds put towards
an educational program or initiative. On October 20, 2014 Kris Ramsay, OCT Director,
met with Kevin and it was decided that the funds received in Memory of Dorothy would
be used to create the Dorothy Rowe Boyle Internship Fund.

It is our hope that the creation of this internship program will bring in young 
professionals with youthful enthusiasm and energy, diverse talents, and a willingness
to take on unfamiliar challenges. These qualities create an internship experience
that will be both valuable for the interns as well as for the staff, our members,
and the Orleans community at large.
