The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History presents
Astronomy Week


BREWSTER, MA ­ The Cape Cod Museum of Natural 
History is proud to present Astronomy Week July 6 – July 10, 2015 9am-11:30am.

  Astronomy Week, an exciting special event as 
part of our KidSummer Day Program, will be taught 
by Harwich Elementary School Technology teacher, 
Larry Brookhart. These summer sessions include 
daytime observation of sun spots, playing some 
astronomical games, preparing equipment for 
evening viewing (how to set up a telescope and 
software programs) and learning how to use 
astronomer’s tools to gather information on 
celestial objects – gas giants, nebulae, 
galaxies, and more! Both indoor and outdoor astronomy activities are included.

Also, Mr. Brookhart will utilize a new portable 
“solar scope” which will allow the students to 
explore our celestial neighbors in both a daytime 
and nighttime setting.  This solar scope, in 
addition to viewing the sun, would also give us 
the capability of observing winter constellations 
that are normally seen on January evenings during 
the brightest days of July.  Imagine being able 
to observe Orion then going to the beach!

The week also includes an evening STAR PARTY at 
the Harwich Observatory for participants and their families.

The program is for ages 10 – 13.
Astronomy Week 5-day session is $215 Members / $240 Non-Members
