  Turtle Sisters and How to Explore a Pond
with
  Author and Illustrator Susan Baur


BREWSTER, MA ­The Cape Cod Museum of Natural 
History in Brewster presents author and 
illustrator Susan Baur for two special programs 
Thursdays, August 6 & August 13, 2015 at 10am.

On Thursday, August 6th author and illustrator 
Susan Baur will read from one or more of her 
three Turtle Sister books. Baur has studied 
snapping turtles, painted turtles and musk or 
stinkpot turtles in Cape Cod ponds from Wellfleet 
to Falmouth for ten years.  As she reads, 
underwater videos illustrate the stories’ 
action.  For younger children ages 3 and up.

On Thursday, August 13th Susan will present “How 
to Explore a Pond” This presentation gives 
children age 5 and up ways to explore any of Cape 
Cod’s hundreds of ponds both above and below 
water.  Baur conveys how to observe, measure, 
compare, and protect as she shows videos of 
turtles, basking, swimming, fighting, laying 
eggs, hatching, and preparing for 
hibernation.  She includes simple experiments to try in any pond.
