Science Programs Coordinator - Sea Education Association

Sea Education Association (SEA) invites applications for the position of Science Programs Coordinator. SEA is a non-profit educational institution located in Woods Hole, MA, which offers innovative and rigorous oceanography and environmental science programs on our campus and aboard our state-of-the-art sailing research vessels, SSV Corwith Cramer and SSV Robert C. Seamans in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the continued development and advancement of SEA's Assistant Scientist Program. This will include including recruiting and placing assistant scientists on board SEA's two vessels, coordinating training of current and prospective assistant scientists, and identifying opportunities for professional development.
- Obtain and manage clearances for scientific research and other related activities during at-sea programs. This will entail working closely with SEA faculty and other Marine Operations staff, in conjunction with the US State Department and coastal state authorities, to organize and submit research clearance applications, ensure the timely fulfillment of reporting requirements, and manage requests for data and other cruise-related info.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with a variety of regulatory, governmental, and educational institutions and agencies
- Identify and represent SEA at various science-based educational and outreach events
- Works closely with the Technical Science Coordinator to maintain and troubleshoot oceanographic equipment and instruments, procure, stock, and deliver science supplies and equipment for the ships, and manage the archiving of oceanographic data and samples

Qualifications
- BS in Biology, Chemistry, Oceanography, or other related field (MS preferred)
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in a professional setting
- Familiar with research vessel or sailing school vessel operations
- Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database software
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
- A demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, staff, students and outside agencies.
