*Biology Internship Job Description:*

The Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC) is seeking an intern for the
summer of 2015 to work on our environmental monitoring programs. APCC is a
non-profit, regional environmental organization whose mission is to protect
the natural resources of Cape Cod.

APCC has two programs that require assistance: the Salt Marsh Program and
the Herring Count Program. The Salt Marsh Program was established in 2003
with the goal of monitoring ecosystem health of tidally restricted salt
marshes. The Herring Count Program was established in 2007 to improve
management of and protection for river herring by assisting state and
federal fisheries managers in estimating river herring populations.

Graduate or undergraduate students preferred. Responsibilities include
measuring pore and surface water salinity levels, mapping invasive species,
taking water quality measurements, entering river herring data, conducting
vegetation surveys along established transects and evaluating fish
populations using the block seine method. The internship is a full-time,
funded position for 12-14 weeks.

Qualifications include the following:

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

· Fish seining and field study experience.

· Fish and plant identification skills.

· YSI multi-probe datalogger experience a plus.

· GPS experience a plus.

Applicant must be organized and physically able to walk through salt
marshes and other difficult terrain. APCC will make reasonable
accommodations for otherwise qualified students who have a physical
disability. Candidates should have access to their own transportation. If
travel to a project site is necessary, reimbursement is available.

Housing is not included in any APCC internship program. APCC will assist
interns in locating housing, but it is ultimately the responsibility of the
intern.

Please email letter of inquiry and resume to info at apcc.org. Applications
received prior to March 13, 2015, will be given preference.
