DAILY THRU AUGUST 31 at 2pm
Canal Visitor Center Tour
Discover some of the rich history, unique design features and vigilant operations that make the Cape Cod Canal the safe and viable navigable waterway it is today. View real-time radar, camera and computer images of the Canal, transmitted live from the Central Marine Traffic Control System.  1/2 hour.


TUESDAY August 18 at 10am
Canal Kids: Animal Adaptations
Animals come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colors, and behave in many different ways. Join us for games and hands-on activities to discover how some of these features help various animals survive. Join us for 5 or more programs this summer and you'll receive your Junior Ranger patch and certificate!


WEDNESDAY August 19 at 7pm
Evening Program: Are you Prepared for the Next New England Hurricane?
Join Bob Thompson, Meteorologist-in-Charge of the southern New England National Weather Service Forecast Office in Taunton, MA for a look at how historical hurricanes have impacted our area and what it takes to get a hurricane to strike New England. He will also discuss new products from the National Weather Service when a hurricane threatens.
	

THURSDAY August 20 at 10am
Hike of the Week: Bournedale Trail Hike
Bournedale, the village that disappeared! Find out how this bustling community became part of the bed of the Cape Cod Canal. What was lost and what was gained 100 years ago? Learn about the folks that made their living from the land and the wealthy and successful New York businessman that changed everything. 1mile. Meet at the Herring Run Recreation Area Info Building, 830 Scenic Highway, Bourne. 1 ½ hrs.


SATURDAY August 22 - Drop in anytime between 10am-12pm
HANDS ON S.T.E.A.M.
Stop by the Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center on Saturday mornings for hands on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math activities that will have you exploring how boats float, building birds, surveying the Canal, designing bridges, experimenting with water, and more. Great for curious minds of all ages.

Evening Program: Getting Ready for the Fall Striped Bass Migration
Ever wonder why 'that guy' is catching all the fish? The 'science or is it the art' behind catching striped bass is discussed by a local fisherman. Jerry Gonsiewski has been chasing striped bass from shore for more than 40 years. His presentation will include Q & A, gear display, and hands on demo to help you become 'that guy/gal'.
	

THURSDAY August 27 at 10am
Hike of the Week: Sagamore Hill Hike
Explore the rich cultural & natural history of Sagamore Hill and its marsh. Discover the critical role it played in protecting the Canal during WWII. The view from the hill top includes a breath-taking vista of Cape Cod Bay. 1 - 1 ½ hours. Meet at the trail entrance across from the Fish Pier parking lot at Scusset Beach State Reservation, 20 Scusset Beach Rd, Sandwich
