The South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell  is looking for a Director of Special Events and Volunteerism. This is a full time position. This position is responsible for all aspects of special events and volunteer coordination at the South Shore Natural Science Center. S/he will plan and execute fundraising and programmatic events that support the mission of the Science Center. S/he will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, staff and volunteers to accomplish this. Responsibilities include solicitation of sponsors and vendors as well as execution of all event details, including volunteer recruitment and management and logistics coordination. S/he will conduct the marketing for events in conjunction with the Marketing and Membership Coordinator.
The Director of Special Events and Volunteerism is also responsible for the coordination of volunteers for various roles at the Science Center. S/He will develop a comprehensive volunteer program that includes procedures for recruitment, selection, placement, training, appreciation and retention of volunteers. S/he will work collaboratively with other departments to determine their needs and requirements for volunteers to work with them.
