MARITIME EVENT PLANNED ON MAY 2ND FROM 10-4 TO INTRODUCE

YOUTH TO EXPLORER CLUB 72 (AGES 11-13) AND SEA SCOUT SHIP 72 (AGES 14-20)



An event is planned by the Lower/Outer Cape Sea Scouts, B.S.A. in conjunction with Learning for Life to introduce young boys and girls to both Explorer Club 72 (ages 11-13) and Sea Scout Ship 72 (ages 14-20), These groups engage youth in boating activities and life skills-building throughout the year and expose youth to maritime careers.  Making use of the vessels and equipment from Sea Scouts Ship 72, (sailing, rowing and motor vessels) and taking full advantage of the natural marine resources and maritime organizations of the region, members of these two youth groups can expect to get FREE hands-on learning experiences. 



To learn more about becoming a member of either Explorer Club 72 or Sea Scout Ship 72 plan to attend an open house at the Sea Scout Ship 72 “Landship” at 46 Beach Road in East Orleans on Saturday May 2nd from 10-4.  Go to www.seascoutship72 and/or call 508-255-8554 to find out more about these youth organizations.   Several of the organization’s vessels will be available to board at the open house event.  Hands-on activities such as sail handling, navigating, knot tying, and oar handling will be available.
