West Barnstable
Historical  Walk

Sat., Nov. 15th
10:00 - 11:30 am

Professor Jim Gould, local author and historian, will lead us through the enchanting
village of West Barnstable.  We will learn about the ongoing restoration efforts
 at the Meetinghouse Church, Paine Black House and Meetinghouse Farm.  Along the
 way we will visit the Grammar School, Wheldon Library, General Store, Train Depot
and finish at the West Barnstable Cemetery at the corner of Route 6A.  See the final
resting place of "Mad Jack", Captain John Percival who was used as a model for Melville,
Hawthorne and Michener for characters in their books.

Park and meet at our walk's co-host, Meetinghouse Farm, which is located at 2135
 Meetinghouse Way (Route 149).
This is an easy 1 mile walk on even terrain.
There is no charge for this walking tour

Cultural Council, for the grant supporting the Historical Walking Tours for the 
Town of Barnstable's 375th Anniversary Celebration.
