   In September 2009, archaeologists discovered a 6,000 year old 
Native American site while conducting a cultural resource assessment 
for the Stony Brook Culvert Replacement Project in Brewster.  The 
site is located on an uplands parcel adjacent to the wetlands and the 
Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. Dianna Doucette, Senior 
Archaeologist with the Public Archaeology Laboratory, Inc. (PAL) will 
share what the PAL archaeologists learned about the people who once 
inhabited the area near Stony Brook, and the importance of Section 
106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.

Dr. Doucette received her Ph.D. in Anthropology from Harvard 
University, and her undergraduate degree at the University of New 
Hampshire.  Her research specializations include pre-contact Native 
American occupation in the Northeast, with particular focus on 
settlement and subsistence practices of Archaic Period hunter 
gatherer societies, cultural landscapes, mortuary practices, gender 
studies, and geoarchaeological methods.
