Details: We have scheduled a Special Meeting of the Members of the Orleans Conservation
Trust for Thursday, May 29th, from 4:30 to 7:00pm at the Council on Aging in Orleans
so that we can present the revised DRAFT Declaration of Trust, answer questions 
and receive input from our Members.  This meeting is also in response to a Members'
request for such a meeting on this topic that the Board received last Fall. Since
then the Board has been working diligently to update the Declaration of Trust and
to update the Board's Policies & Procedures so that we have a modern, comprehensive
set of governing documents designed to meet the needs of a land trust with a broadly
diversified membership.

Declaration of Trust, supporting Trust policies, and a "review guide" to help you
understand the focus of each Article of the Declaration of Trust, and the nature
 of the proposed changes.  The "review guide" also provides a reference to an IRS
publication on "Suggested Language for Trusts". The other two documents are policies
related to the Declaration of Trust- one specific to the "Retirement, Resignation,
Removal and Replacement of Trustees", and a DRAFT policy on the "Nomination, Vetting
and Election of Trustees." If you would prefer, you may arrange to obtain copies
 of the documents by contacting the Trust office at 508-255-0183.

We will make every effort to address all comments and questions received prior to,
during and subsequent to the Special Meeting on May 29th.  All comments and questions
related to the draft Declaration of Trust will be due by June 10 so that we can 
finalize the document for a Membership vote in concert with the Annual Meeting on
August 26, 2014.  To ensure the accurate recording of any comments and questions,
please submit your comments and questions in writing via email as noted below, or
U.S. mail (addressed to the OCT, P.O. Box 1078, East Orleans, MA 02643), or dropped
off at our office on the mezzanine of the Santander Bank at 51 Main Street, Orleans.
