Barnstable County Cooperative Extension and Woods Hole Sea Grant have
joined with the National Weather Service (NWS) to host a focus group
to obtain feedback on a new NWS product. This should only take about
an hour of your time and will be of great use to your community.

Along the coast, storm surge is often the greatest threat to life and
property from a hurricane. Yet, in spite of increasingly more accurate
storm forecasting, many coastal residents do not take protective
action from storm surge. The NWS has developed a new map that shows
the potential flooding from storm surge in a given area during a
hurricane. The NWS is getting ready to implement the new map in
communities that are vulnerable to hurricanes. We need your help to
make this process a success.

We are organizing small focus groups of individuals to review a couple
of outreach products that detail the dangers of storm surge and
explain the new map. We would like to ask you some questions and get
your input on these new products.

You will benefit from hearing first-hand how these products were
developed and how they can help people better understand the threat of
a potential storm surge in your community. Your participation will be
invaluable in helping NWS introduce these products in your community
and in saving people?s lives and property.

A limited number of seats are available!
