The Sea Change Ocean Conservation Film Series,
presented by Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, and sponsored in part by WCAI,
concludes this week:
Chasing Ice: Saturday, March 1, 7-8:30 p.m.
In the spring of 2005, acclaimed environmental photographer James Balog headed to the Arctic on a tricky assignment for National Geographic: to capture images to help tell the story of the Earth's changing climate. Chasing Ice is the story of one man's mission to deploy revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the brutal Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world's changing glaciers. Join us for an evening of discovery at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater's Julie Harris Stage as we screen Chasing Ice and engage in a panel discussion, hosted by WCAI's Heather Goldstone, with three local scientists: Dr. Andrew Ashton and Dr. Fiamma Straneo of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Dr. Judith Pedersen of MIT Sea Grant. A question-and-answer period will follow.
If you are fascinated by the Arctic environment, curious about the effects of climate change, or simply interested in the adventures of a nature photographer, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more.
