ADVISORY LEADER, Sea Grant College Program-Sea Grant Marine Advisory Services, to be responsible for statewide leadership and coordination of MIT Sea Grant’s Marine Advisory Services, including acting as a liaison to state and federal agencies; conducting applied research and developing outreach activities in coastal and marine science; and managing a staff of technical and scientific outreach, education, and communication specialists.  Responsibilities require individual and team efforts to plan, develop, and implement the MIT Sea Grant strategic plan, outreach and extension education programs, and applied research related to coastal and marine ecology.  Applied research program delivery will include extension and peer reviewed publications, workshops, conferences, computer- and web-based software, and electronic and mass media releases.  Will also develop grant proposals as appropriate; and collaborate with Woods Hole and other Northeastern Sea Grant programs and MIT research faculty, regional program leaders, and other specialists in developing and delivering nationally recognized programs for stakeholders. REQUIRED:  an advanced degree in science or engineering in a marine-related discipline; at least ten years’ professional experience in a related academic, government, or industrial setting; in-depth scientific and technical expertise in one of the following marine-related areas: climate change, innovative approaches to clean waters, and benthic habitats; experience with outreach and educational program development; excellent written and oral communication skills; experience in extension, research, or similar work; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with state and federal agencies, cooperate as a team member, and lead applied research efforts; and demonstrated willingness to be involved in outreach education with constituency groups.
