Our spring theme is mating creatures and those who observe them. What fun! This is a great opportunity to volunteer walking the beaches or scanning the skies.

Eagles on Cape? Saving The Bald Eagle with Tom French

You can be an eagle spotter in the new state survey! Join Thomas French, Ph.D., Director of the Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program for the MA Division of Fish and Wildlife for a beautifully illustrated history of Bald Eagle restoration efforts and many successes that have followed.
$6 members/$8 nm

Salamanders and Swallows

Saturday, March 30th ,  11 am - 12:30 pm

Explore the amphibian and the avian at Ashumet, searching vernal pools for egg masses and breeding creatures and checking the fields for returning swallows.

Feeling crabby? Then walk the local beaches with us for Mass Audubon's Horseshoe Crab Spawning Surveys. We will have an introductory presentation with amazing video and mating mishaps and share what it takes to volunteer (if you wish).

Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the north side of Rt 6a in Barnstable.  Trails are open daily dawn to dusk.  Sanctuary admission is free for members; $4 adults, $3 children for non-members. Call (508) 362-7475 for information.
