Subject: [SCUTTLEBUTT:9822] exam prep websites

Hi Folks -

when I started studying for my CSET, you sent me some helpful
suggestions. The test went well, thank you.

Along the way, I discovered a company called Exam Edge, which is running
a large scale internet scam directed at teachers in training. If you,
or your friends are preparing for any significant tests, please watch
out for sites with names like (your state's test)(subject).com. For
example, a teacher in Florida looking to prepare for chemistry might
encounter FTCEchemistry.com

The scam is simply that the company promises "realistic" practice tests,
but in fact offers questions riddled with errors and awash in poor
explanations. The test writing was outsourced to India, and about 2/3 of
the questions are incomprehensible. About half the questions on the
physics test are simply incorrect.

Please avoid these websites like the plague. If you have questions
please address them to me only - I have said as much as I can in an open
forum.

thanks

     Cynthia
