*Sharing Our Shores: Seals of Cape Cod*
2 pm on Wednesday, January 30 at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House,
819 Main Street, Chatham.
Lisa Sette, manager of the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies Seal
Research project and a member of the Center’s Marine Animal Entanglement
Response team, will discuss her recent research on gray seals. Lisa has
developed a photo-identification catalog and database of individual gray
seals from Cape Cod; these data are being used to understand seasonal
fidelity to local haul outs as well as long distance movements of the seals
throughout the year. Lisa also works with local commercial and
recreational fishermen and the Center’s Marine Fisheries Research program
in a collaborative effort to assess the impact of interactions between
seals and fisheries.
Please note: If Lisa has to respond to a marine animal entanglement on
January 30, the talk will be postponed until January 31, same time &
place.
