The NOAA Sea Grant John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship application period is now open. 

The Knauss Fellowship, established in 1979, provides a unique educational experience to graduate students who have an interest in ocean and coastal resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. 
 
The National Sea Grant College Program awarded 49 Fellowships to highly qualified graduate students in 2013. Each student was placed with a “host” in the legislative or executive branch of government in Washington, DC to learn about marine policy. 

Any student, regardless of citizenship, who, on February 14, 2014, is enrolled towards a degree in a graduate or professional program, that has an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources is eligible to apply. The graduate degree needs to be awarded through a United States accredited institution of higher education in the United States or U.S. Territories.

Applications are due February 14th, 2014 at 5 p.m. local time to the local Sea Grant programs. Interested students should discuss this fellowship with their State Sea Grant Program or Project Director. At Woods Hole, the contact is Judy McDowell (jmcdowell at whoi.edu) or 508-289-2557.
