Aquatic Habitat Restoration Specialist Job Opening

The Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) seeks qualified applicants for the full-time position of Aquatic Habitat Restoration Specialist. The Environmental Analyst IV / Aquatic Habitat Restoration Specialist serves a dual role as a senior restoration project manager and technical aquatic habitat scientist, managing project development and implementation activities for 10-15 active projects at any given time and assisting with coordination of DER's entire suite of physical aquatic habitat restoration projects.

The work covers a broad and highly interdisciplinary range of activities, such as providing in-house technical services and guidance; preparing technical services contracts and managing private contractors; forming project teams and workplans; preparing grant applications and acquiring project funding and resources; managing project participants and the sequencing of activities; reviewing project designs and permit applications; and general strategic planning and problem-solving throughout a project's duration; building strategic partnerships and conducting outreach in support of aquatic ecosystem restoration. The Environmental Analyst IV's project management portfolio may include salt marsh restoration, freshwater wetland restoration, stream continuity, or other project types to be determined based on future needs.
