[SEMCO] Nature Sketching Class at Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary on Cape Cod Bay

Sketching on the Sanctuaries

Thursday Mornings, 10 am -noon, May 2nd - June 20th
This sketching class is for all levels and will be held outdoors as often as possible. We will use the beautiful scenery at Long Pasture Sanctuary for inspiration as well as the gardens and birds. All you need is a sketchbook and a pencil to begin but we will also experiment with pens, colored pencils and watercolor pencils. No experience is necessary but a good attitude and sense of humor will go a long way. Individualized instruction and gentle critiques are part of every class. Bring a beach or folding chair. If the class is willing and able we will take at least two field trips to Ashumet Sanctuary in Hatchville and Skunknett Sanctuary in Osterville. Dress warmly and bring sunscreen, a hat and maybe a little bug spray (but not for use near the butterfly gardens!) Some walking on uneven ground for short distances will be part of this class.

Mary Richmond is an artist, nature columnist, naturalist and educator with many years of teaching drawing and watercolor painting under her belt. She especially loves helping beginning students get over their  fear of drawing.

Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the north side of Rt 6a in Barnstable.  Trails are open daily dawn to dusk.  Sanctuary admission is free for members; $4 adults, $3 children for non-members. Call (508) 362-7475 for information.
