"The Race to Save a Species and our Whale Awareness Day Party after have been designed to engage our neighbors in Plymouth and enhance our efforts to protect the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale" Regina Asmutis-Silvia, WDC’s Executive Director, commented. “In addition to our Race to Save a Species we’ll be hosting a free Whale Awareness Day Party at Memorial Hall with educational activities, a life-size inflatable whale, live music, raffles and much more!”

Race organizers are reaching out to competitive runners, casual athletes, families with children of all ages, and individuals wanting to spend a fun morning helping to save a species. The course will begin and end at Memorial Hall in historic downtown Plymouth and take runners along the beautiful waterfront of Plymouth harbor. Staff at the WDC’s North American office, located in Plymouth, MA, have created an event that is set to introduce a whole new spectrum of individuals to their work to protect whales and dolphins around the globe and in their backyard.

"Though everyone in our area is connected to the ocean, beach, or sea life in some way - not everyone is aware of how easily they can play an active part in marine conservation. This race is designed to connect individuals to our work and show them how a fun day by the shore is a great way to save a species that is on the brink of extinction.” Stated Emily Ryane Moss, WDC Race Coordinator.
