PROTECTING THE COAST

Prescription drugs are powerful.    Keeping human medications away from fish and  wildlife and out of  wastewater is important....  Saturday, September 29, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.     Local police departments throught the nation collect unwanted prescription drugs.   Contact  your local police department for additional information....  If your community is not involved with this program, it may be a program that your local government can support in the future....    Although the September 29th emphasis is on personal safety,  this is an opportunity to educate the public about  "contaminants of emerging concern."     And it's an opportunity to help protect the coastal environment.

September 27th is the 50th anniversary for the book publication of "Silent Spring."
