Teacher/Naturalist position open for the 2012-13 School Year

Currently seeking an experienced female Teacher/Naturalist to begin as soon as possible.
The NEED (National Environmental Education Development) Collaborative is a small residential environmental education school, located in a retired Coast Guard Station in Truro, Massachusetts. The program is for 5th grade students from 3 school districts. Program length varies by school district- Dennis-Yarmouth and Monomoy 5 days, Falmouth 3 days. Our total group size each week is generally about 22 students. Teaching groups average 6- 8 students
Four talented Teacher/Naturalists have the chance to live and work at the Seashore House each school year. The staff is balanced with two men and two women.
Teacher/Naturalists lead 3 hikes/lessons per day for their teaching group, rotating off for one day and one evening during the week. Teachers develop and present experiential lessons based on the MA Education Frameworks and centered on the local environments (Beach & Dune, Dune Forest, Kettlehole pond, Freshwater Swamps) and history (Pilgrims, Shipwrecks & U.S. Lifesaving Service). Lessons also include: Nightwalk, Group Dynamics, and Pizza Making. Teachers are also responsible on a rotating basis for helping with meal preparation and serving, bedtime duties, group supervision during short bus trips to various natural and historical areas of the outer Cape, and the overall care and maintenance of the facility.
Qualifications: B.S. required. Current CPR & First Aid certification. Love of being outdoors in all kinds of weather on the great outer beach of the Cape Cod National Seashore and a background/experience in natural history interpretation, marine science, or general ecology strongly recommended. Experience with youth, residential education, and facilitating team building preferred.
Dates: Immediately - June 16, 2013. One week off at Thanksgiving, two weeks off at Christmas/New Years. One week off for February Break. (Week of President's Day).
Salary: Competitive salary is paid bi-weekly through out the school year, private room and board are provided.
