On Thursday, April 12 at 2 pm the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History will
present the

Spring Book Discussion in the Clarence Hay Library - Why Read Moby Dick? by
Nathaniel Philbrick, author of Mayflower and In the Heart of the Sea, among
other compelling novels. Admission is free for those attending the
discussion.

A warm-up for the Museum's whale exhibit, Myles Marcus, the
Museum's whale expert, will lead this fascinating discussion. As noted in a
recent review, "Philbrick skillfully navigates Melville's world and
illuminates the book's humor and unforgettable characters-finding the thread
that binds Ishmael and Ahab to our own time and, indeed, to all times. A
perfect match between author and subject, Why Read Moby-Dick? gives us a
renewed appreciation of both Melville and the proud seaman's town of
Nantucket that Philbrick himself calls home."

Although Moby Dick isn't on the masthead, participants are encouraged to
read portions of it or.the whole book. Let's share our thoughts about
America's greatest novel.
