Regional Circuit Rider Workshop: Stormwater Management in Massachusetts

The MassDEP Regional Circuit Rider Program presents a free educational workshop for Municipal Staff and Volunteers and other government officials in the Southeast Region<http://www.mass.gov/dep/water/wastewater/%20/dep/about/region/southeas.htm>. In Massachusetts, stormwater regulation at the state level is linked to the protection of wetlands and water quality; jurisdiction at the federal level is broader. "Stormwater Management in Massachusetts" will cover:

 *   Jurisdiction & Public Interests
 *   Three Components of Stormwater Management
 *   Requirements for Erosion Control and SW Management
 *   Applicability & Overview of MassDEP's 10 Stormwater Management Standards
 *   Construction-phase Issues

This workshop includes:

 *   MS Powerpoint presentation
 *   Review of online resources
 *   Hands-on site plan exercise

Update: MassDEP Stormwater Coordinator Fred Civian will provide a brief overview of NPDES programs, including the MS4 permit that affects 71 of the 84 municipalities in the Southeast Region.
