Battle For Bats

The Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve's Evenings on the Bluff Series continues with a community education program entitled Battle for Bats: The White-nose Syndrome Tragedy on Tuesday, July 31 at 7:30PM overlooking beautiful Waquoit Bay.

Join Amy Wilmot, DCR$B!G(Bs Regional Interpretive Coordinator for an informative presentation about why White$B!>(BNose Syndrome is responsible for the catastrophic death of hibernating bats in the United States and Canada. This previously unknown disease has spread very quickly among bats since it was first discovered, and it poses a considerable threat. After the presentation Amy will lead us on an outdoor search for bats using a bat detector.

The Reserve$B!G(Bs headquarters is located at 149 Waquoit Highway (Route 28) on the bluff overlooking Waquoit Bay. There is no charge for the program, donations are welcome. This program will be held in our Visitor Center.

This program is co-sponsored by the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation. Assistive listening devices are available for all of our programs. We will also be happy to request a sign language interpreter with advance notice. For additional information please call 508-457-0495 x108.
