Waquoit Bay Reserve still has several openings in their Summer Science School sponsored by The Waquoit Bay Foundation.
Space still exist for the following sessions:
Bayside Buddies Entering Grades 2 and 3 (Half day)
9:00 AM -Noon or Aug 13 - 17 AM only $150 (5 days)
Children get wet, muddy and inspired while exploring the habitats and wildlife around Waquoit Bay through
games, crafts and scientific investigations.
Eco-Design Workshop Entering grades 5, 6, 7 (Full day) Time: 9:00AM - 3:00PM
1 Session July 23- 27, 2012 Fee: $250
Students will design and create exciting take-home projects related to renewable energy while exploring the Bay
using science, technology, experimentation and outdoor exploration. We'll supply scientific equipment, building
materials and guidance to help participants discover more about wind, water and solar resources and how
energy use affects our environment. Students supply the creativity, interest and determination to create some
amazing projects.
Women in Science: Entering Grades 7, 8 & 9
Girls only session includes boat trip and one night camping on Washburn Island
1 Session July 16 - July 20, 2012
Time 9:00AM - 3:00 PM Mon -Wed, overnight Thurs 1:00 PM- Noon Friday Fee: $250
Young women receive inspiration and support from WBNERR staff while building confidence through activities
relating to scientific research, marine biology, and ecology. An overnight camping trip fosters peer relationships
as girls leave cell phones behind and face the challenges of setting up shelter, cooking and exploring the island
at night.
TIDAL Quest: Teens Investigating Diversity of Aquatic Life
Grades 9 through 12 July 23 - July 27, 2012 Fee: $250
Join a small team of students spending a week in the field with Waquoit Bay Reserve scientists conducting
environmental monitoring projects.
