[SEMCO] Buzzards Bay Coalition Climate Change Event February 9th

On Thursday, February 9th the Buzzards Bay Coalition will be hosting a night of educational demonstrations and presentations on climate change.

Join us at 5:30 for an interactive demonstration vividly showing the impacts of climate change on ocean circulation by Dr. Jeff Schell, Chief Scientist and member of the oceanography faculty at Sea Education Association in Woods Hole.

Continue your exploration of climate change at 6:30 with John Bullard, president of Sea Education Association, as he presents "Global Warming:  What's going on here?  What do I do about it?"

Both presenters join us from the acclaimed Sea Education Association (SEA) where students learn about Oceanography, Nautical Science, and Maritime Studies at the Woods Hole campus and doing research at sea.

John Bullard is a current board member of the Buzzards Bay Coalition. He served as mayor of the city of New Bedford from 1986-1992 where he introduced many community driven and sustainability programs while bringing the city into compliance with the Clean Water Act. He joined the Clinton administration in 1993 as head of the first Federal Office of Sustainable Development.

Jeff Schell joined SEA after receiving his Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Jeff's research focused on fundamental ecological questions concerning the role of environmental variables on animal communities. He has pursued these questions in a variety of habitats and continues to pursue them in the coastal habitats of Cape Cod. Jeff has developed a unique educational philosophy during his diverse teaching experiences in which students are empowered to become independent thinkers and learners.
