Environmental Educator
Location: Barnstable, MA
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic environmental educator to
join our Education staff. Mass Audubon's Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary
is a young and flourishing sanctuary on Cape Cod overlooking Barnstable
Harbor. The Environmental Educator will teach a variety of natural
history programs on local wildlife and ecological concepts to school
groups and families both in school and in the field. The Environmental
Educator will also assist the Education Coordinator in the development
of new programs that meet the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and
the coordination, preparation, and marketing of public education
programs and special events.
This is a 20 hr/week year round position, with the potential for
increase over time.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, biological, earth
science, environmental studies, or equivalent, and a minimum of 1 year
of experience in conducting educational programs or Master's degree in
education, biological, earth science, environmental studies, or
equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to relate to a diverse range of people and exercise cultural
competence and inclusion. Successful candidates will have experience
teaching in the classroom, as well as in the field; knowledge of basic
principles of ecology and natural history, marine biology, and coastal
ecosystems; and a background in field identification. Requires First Aid
and CPR certification upon hire. Requires successful completion of a
CORI and SORI.
Benefits: Starting salary is $13.00 per hour.
